I love reading The Forum and I appreciate the variety of articles you provide. The environmental focus is excellent and I feel it is extremely relevant and it’s a good way to keep readers informed about environmental needs not only on a larger scale, but in our local community as well. Good job, keep up the good work! I especially enjoy reading your “Living with, not dying of AIDS.” The contributing writer always makes excellent points. In the recent issue I had read, he discusses the problem of telling people about having HIV/AIDS and the kind of repercussions that has, not only with close family and friends, but with complete strangers. He really takes issues that most people take for granted and gives an excellent perspective for someone who may not be aware of the problem. He posed some interesting questions, and I’d love to give him a response. He had said, “I’m just saying many people are still uneducated about HIV and so the fears lurk underneath the surface of most people. How would you feel? What would you say to me? What do you know about HIV?” In response, I want to tell him that I know little to nothing about HIV. All I know is that it makes you sick and you die, and I feel bad not knowing more about it. However, I do not see that as grounds to discriminate against someone. I say kudos to Kevin for taking the initiative to inform people about what living with HIV/AIDS is like—it isn’t just reading facts off a sheet, he is giving us REAL life experiences that we can relate to in a way, making it more understandable. I am happy he is able to continue living life to the fullest extent that he can—that’s what we should all do anyway! So, I would probably not say much to him other than give him a hug because even though he has a disease, it doesn’t affect the type of person he is. Anyone who says different merely does not understand. I love the juxtaposition he made to cancer—it really brought the point he was making home and I’m glad he made it! So thank you Kevin, I appreciate your article and continue to look forward to reading what you have to say. Caitie Wagner Sophomore Art major

Feeling ‘unwelcomed’ on campus & student run paper no better than student I do not know how many current students attend the events at Westminster, but I know that I don’t. I will be a sophomore next term, and I have still never gone to an event. I don’t necessarily blame Westminster College, but I do blame the bad timing. I live off campus, which makes it hard to attend. In between classes, chillin’ with family, trying to find a job and homework, I do not have time to race back to Westminster to attend a event. I know I am not the only one; not one of the people who I know, who also live off campus, attended events. Their reasons are similar to mine. It is because of the time of each events that we can not attend. This leaving us feeling a little un-welcomed. I don’t feel as though I am getting the full college experience and surly not the Westminster experience. One solution might be to have events fall on set times through out the year. Another will be to have an hour when no classes are held during the day time or late afternoon when most students are still on campus. These solutions will not be easy, but to get the most out of the events and to give the most to the students of Westminster College, a change must take place. On a side note, I consistently find sentences in the Forum that do not make sense. Also, words that are missing or are not correct. I am not perfect at writing or spelling and I always make mistakes, but the Forum should be better then me! April M.
